“The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it.”

– John 1:5

If you are a First Responder in need of prayer, we invite you to contact us with your specific prayer needs.

If you are a citizen we see all First Responders. Sometimes we see them at the side of the road with a citizen, sometimes in a coffee shop or sometimes racing with sirens blaring into the fray. Sometimes we speak to them on the telephone. We ask that you remember seven words, “When you see them, pray for them.” We believe in the power of prayer, and we invite you to join us as we lift up all First Responders. Here are specific things you can pray about for our First Responders.

Pray for Police Officers

Blessed be the Lord, my rock, who trains my hands for war, and my fingers for battle; he is my steadfast love and my fortress, my stronghold and my deliverer, my shield and he in whom I take refuge, who subdues peoples  under me.

Psalm 144:1-2

Pray for Firefighters

We pray for Firefighters who protect our structures and risk themselves to save lives.

When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; and through the rivers, they shall not overwhelm you; when you walk through fire you shall not be burned, and the flame shall not consume you.

Isaiah 43:2

Pray for Paramedics

Fear not, for I am with you; be not dismayed, for I am your God; I will strengthen you, I will help you, I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.

Isaiah 41:10

Pray for Communicators (911)

Gracious words are like a honeycomb, sweetness to the soul and health to the body.

Proverbs 16:24

Pray for By-law Officers

Let every person be subject to the governing authorities. For there is no authority except from God, and those that exist have been instituted by God.

Romans 13:1

In the event of the loss of life of a First Responder in the line of duty:

  1. Pray for the families of the lost First Responder, their spouses, children, parents, grandparents, aunts and uncles and all other relatives:
    • Pray that they will have times of comfort and peace;
    • Pray for their courage, strength, and for their physical, mental, emotional and spiritual well-being;
    • Pray for them to be surrounded by caring friends, neighbours, community members and others;
    • Pray for their wisdom to lean on God for that comfort, courage, strength, wisdom and peace;
    • Pray that they will discover or further develop their relationship with God throughout this tragic time;
    • Pray for their faith and confidence to know that God is with them as they walk through this valley;
    • Pray for the children of the lost, that they are blessed with special comfort and peace.
  2. Pray for their work family:
    • Pray for their comfort and strength;
    • Pray for their emotional and mental wellbeing and steadfastness at this time;
    • Pray for their emotional stability and focus as they continue to serve and protect;
    • Pray that God will use this time to speak to their hearts;
    • Pray for Christian First Responders to step up and share their faith and surround them with their love, support and encouragement;
    • Pray that God will grant them enough strength, love and patience to continue to serve the public;
    • Pray that First Responders have the wisdom to seek assistance if needed so they can heal, cope well, and restore their tranquility after the memories and fears created during the time of the tragic loss;
    • Pray that fear will not overcome First Responder families and that God will shine His light on them and encourage and motivate them to continue serving the public.
